RECW

In the early fall of 2013 (when I still had hair) I attended the Recording Workshop. It is a small institution in Chillicothe Ohio that teaches students the art of audio engineering. They do this with top of the line gear, equipment, studios, and a very knowledgeable staff. The RECW gives students the opportunity to record live by bringing in local artists. They also teach audio mixing and recording techniques. They taught us with Avid Protools on the Mac OS. There is a core and advanced course, of which I completed both. They also teach video audio mixing and recording. While I was there, all the students were split up into groups and we worked on most projects within those assigned groups. I was in group 5 and here is a compilation of our work.

We had to do a whole lot of studio mixing of both digital tracks, and live studio sessions. Here is a link to the playlist on my SoundCloud.

Below is some of our group’s video work.

We practiced adding the audio of a movie clip back in after the it had been stripped. This project also involved the use of folly recording. I actually contributed many of the grunts in this scene.

We also remixed the background music of a movie clip by inserting points where the music would slow down in correspondence with the action.
