WMCO

My introduction to Orbit Media was its radio department and WMCO. I began the training in the spring of 2014 and had my first radio show that fall semester. Radio shows ran for 2 hours and I had a new show each semester for 3 years, a total of six. I also applied for the specialty show slots which ran from 10 pm to midnight and the DJ’s could play their own music. I did this four times. I also trained three new DJ’s. While I absolutely enjoyed being live on radio I also really liked making my content for the shows. Everyone was required to make a promo for their shows, but I also began making bumpers and intros for segments and used special effects to try and make a really fun experience. Below is a highlight of each show that I did and the content I produced for those shows.

My final, and by far best show, was the Late Night Reel. Specialty shows were allotted four segments total. I used the same four segments in the same order for all of these shows. Below are the bumpers for those segments. I also pre-recorded the featured actor segment ahead of time. Otherwise, I did a featured song at five after each hour, and I also made a promo for this show. I also used my DJ intro and “Booyah” sound effects.

Before I made Cinema Central a podcast, it was one of my earlier radio shows. This version was a standard show and had only two segments where I talked about entertainment news and reviews. I created bumpers, and a promo for this show but that was about it.

In the Spring semester of 2015 I had a new specialty show called Movies, Music and More a.k.a. Triple M. I played christian music and had a cool segment where I would feature a different band each week. Compared to previous shows I minimized the amount of bumpers I created and the pool of segments to draw from. Here are those bumpers and the promo for the show.

Finally before Triple M, I ran a specialty show called Cinema Central that I played mostly soundtracks on. This was the first show I really experimented with producing bumpers for segments, and admittedly it got a little out of hand. My segments came from a pool of about a dozen and I would just choose four for each week. It was during this show that I launched season one of Cinema Wars. It was a fun show and it was fun to produce. I also messed around with pre-recorded show intros because each week had a different theme. I was also really into alliteration apparently.

And here are those show Intros.
