AVC Communications Internship

17759During the summer of 2016 I interned at AVC Communications, outside of Cambridge, OH. AVC broadcasts 7 radio stations and 1 TV station. While there, I was able to do a whole lot of production items for any one of these stations. It was a lot of work but it was also exciting. By far the hardest thing for me to do was keep within the strict time limits of some of the recordings. It was a challenge, but one that I was able to work through. Below is the complete compilation of items that I either recorded, mixed, or both while working there.

The last Project I did was the “Score Tracker.” With the High School football season starting, AVC airs multiple games on multiple stations. Periodically the DJ’s will give score updates on these games. I recorded these intros. The rest of the clip is just a bed for the DJ to talk over.

Also with High School football season starting, there is a bumper that plays before the games on different stations. AVC wanted new ones for the season, but I felt my voice was inadequate to the test, especially since there was nothing wrong with the previous bumpers. So I found the original files and remixed each bumper with a new music bed to it.

I did a series of sweeps for the Airport Tavern establishment. Most of these were sweeps and were played over a music bed already in the system so mixes were not necessary. This is an example of getting the whole script within that 10 second zone, it did prove difficult at times. Over all, these were some of my favorite promos to do.

I also had to tackle some sports promos. These were challenging just because I am not interested in sports and pronunciation is an important point. Plus there is the issue of capturing the vocal tone which was hit and miss for me. I also had to list off various sponsors which proved challenging fitting it all into a 30 second window.

Below you can find the rest of the promos and sweeps that I recorded and mixed for AVC.
